Meanwhile, the VN has been translated, currently redrawing the menus, buttons, etc. Should be out soon-ish.

So I thought I’d try translating a visual novel for a change. The novel is called Kawakaburi No Cherry, it’s made by DOUJIN3ARIES and as you can see it’s straight shota. As of this writing, the actual game can be found here:

The game is out there, time to rely on G00gle ((18禁ゲーム) [100925] [DOUJIN3ARIES] 皮被りのチェリー), kindness of strangers, etc. Meanwhile I am working on it, should be out in a few weeks.

I am not planning to distribute/host the game myself, instead I will be releasing a single file (patch.xp3) that would need to be copied into the game’s folder (it will contain the translation and updated graphics for menus, etc).

I have no idea how long the project will take at this point, but the process seems straightforward enough, I have the technical stuff mostly figured out, so hopefully… not too long. And, no, I am not stopping translating manga, it’s just that right now I feel like doing a VN.

Oh yeah, one other thing… I can’t really draw, but if there’s someone reasonably good at drawing and interested in doing the uncensoring, I can provide the relevant picture files (which would then go into the same patch.xp3) and we could have an uncensored ss game as a result. Leave a note in comments if you’re interested. Actually never mind. Most of the relevant scenes are animated anyway, so decensoring pictures isn’t going to make a lot of difference.

“Yuutousei” in the title literally means “honor student”, but it is also used more generally to mean “model” (as in “model citizen”) or “outstanding example of”. “Shitsuke” (which means “disciplining/upbringing/parenting”) is the mangaka-provided reading for the kanji which are normally read as “kyouiku” (training/education).

This one sure took a while but it’s finally done. Enjoy.

The entire story is in Kansai dialect, but since standard Japanese is not used at all, there is nothing to contrast the Kansai against and so I decided not to use Southern (or any other) dialect in my translation. For all I know, the mangaka is from Kansai and this is his/her native dialect.

While the choice of organization to donate to is up to you, I recommend that you donate to the Japanese Red Cross (which is what I did), as other organizations listed on that page either had a hand in pressuring Japanese authorities into limiting the freedom of expression (UNICEF) or do not guarantee that the funds will actually be used for the crisis relief.

Thanks go to tenchi20 for the raws (part of Maman Love vol.5 anthology tankoubon). In related news, I now have the raws for all 6 volumes of Maman Love and there are quite a few stories in them that I like (as you can see on the right side of this page). If any of these stories have already been translated, please be sure to let me know.
